Community Grants from the National Churches Trust

Date

2 May 2012

During 2012-2013 the National Churches Trust is administering a share of a one off grant from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).

It will enable awards of £10,000 to £50,000 towards new capital works at listed places of worship outside the care of the Church of England.

The Church of England is also administering a share of the grant and listed places of worship in the care of the Church of England should contact their diocese for information.

To be eligible to apply under the National Churches Trust Community Grants programme, you need to be able to answer yes to all the following questions:

  • Is your building in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland?
  • Is your building listed and of any faith or denomination that is not the Church of England, or is it owned by an organisation that specifically cares for redundant listed places of worship?
  • Does your project include new capital works? (For example: accessible toilets, catering facilities, the building of an extension, beneficial heating and the improvement of accessibility.)
  • Can you demonstrate the ways in which the project will benefit local people?
  • Is your project taking place or starting, and able to claim a grant, prior to March 2013?

If you think your project fits these criteria visit the National Churches Trust website for further details.
